Chris Perez Joins USC Gould School of Law as Adjunct Professor to Teach IP Practicum
Chris Perez will be joining his alma mater, the USC Gould School of Law, this semester as an adjunct professor, where he will lead the school’s Intellectual Property Practicum. The practicum serves as a unique cooperation between the USC Gould School of Law and the USC School of Cinematic Arts, bringing together students for an insightful, hands-on course delving into the legalities of the entertainment industry.
Throughout the semester, law students will have the opportunity to serve as “entertainment attorneys” to their peers in the School of Cinematic Arts, gaining first-hand transactional and clearance experience by advising on contracts and reviewing screenplays and films for intellectual property clearance issues. Concurrently, film students will get the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the role lawyers and the law play throughout the filmmaking and production process. By the conclusion of the course, students will have the experience, knowledge, and confidence needed to navigate the independent film and television industries.
