Variety Names Michael Donaldson and Chris Perez to its 2019 Legal Impact Report

Partners Michael Donaldson and Chris Perez were named to Variety’s 2019 Legal Impact Report for engineering the landmark U.S. Copyright office ruling that expands the fair use exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) for focus and narrative work. This marks Chris’ third year on the list.

In an interview with Variety, Chris also discussed the firm’s work on 30 Sundance films this year, noting that “today’s content boom affords talent a lot of fluid movement in the independent film world…sometimes it requires solutions outside the box and creating precedents that change the industry.”
