The Daily Journal Recognizes Alex Yousefzadeh on 2026 “Top 40 Under 40” List
The firm is pleased to announce that Alex Yousefzadeh has been recognized in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” issue for 2026. The prestigious list spotlights California’s accomplished young lawyers and their growing influence on the state’s legal profession.
In the Daily Journal’s special issue, Alex is recognized for his work in transactional entertainment law, where he represents filmmakers, production companies and storytellers, with a practice focused on production and clearance matters.
The profile highlights Alex’s work as clearance counsel for the documentary “Queen of Chess,” where he advised Moxie Films on bringing third-party works within fair use parameters. Working under tight constraints, he helped develop a legal strategy that allowed the project to clear without claims. “As with many projects, we were up against tight delivery deadlines and budgetary constraints. Still, we were able to provide thoughtful advice and a legal strategy that resulted in a successfully cleared project without any claims,” Alex explains.
He divides his practice into two primary areas: production and clearance. On the production side, Alex advises clients on the legal aspects of development, financing, production and distribution. On the clearance side, he says, “I review content and advise clients on clearing their projects for any copyright, trademark, defamation and personal rights issues.”
His career began with a personal interest. “I always enjoyed watching documentaries, so when I learned about Donaldson Callif’s legal work in the doc and independent film and television space, I applied for a summer internship and never looked back,” Alex tells the Daily Journal. “Fast forward 10 years, I’m now a partner at Donaldson Callif Perez and have the honor to work with some of the most talented filmmaker clients and colleagues.”
