Michael Donaldson Presents at University Film & Video Association’s 72nd Annual Conference
Partner Michael Donaldson will be presenting at the 72nd Annual University Film & Video Association (UFVA) Conference on July 24, 2018. As a judge on UFVA’s first-ever fair use quiz panel “Fair Use or Foul? You Be the Judge,” Donaldson, along with Patricia Aufderheide, Robert Johnson, Diane Carson and Jack Lerner, will test attendees’ knowledge on fair use in current films, fiction films and under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Donaldson, along with Partners Lisa Callif, Dean Cheley, Chris Perez and Associate Kathryn Alimohammadi will also be featured in the documentary short film “Fair Use in Fiction Film,” discussing the questions to ask and the conditions to be met to support the use of other people’s footage (visual and/or audio) in a fiction film without paying for it as an asset. The film will be shown on July 26, 2018.
The University of Film and Video Association is a community of makers, writers, researchers, scholars and speakers. Its 72nd Annual Conference, themed “Stories Without Borders,” will be held at New Mexico State University from July 23 – 26, 2018.
