Lisa Callif Speaks to Variety About the Indie Film Industry’s Evolving Business Model Ahead of AFM 2024
Lisa Callif recently spoke to Variety about the ever-changing business models of the independent film industry as the American Film Market, slated to run from Nov. 5 to 10, rapidly approaches.
In recent years, indie filmmakers defaulted to either selling their film’s global rights to streaming services before reaching AFM or releasing their films through VOD domestically, appeasing major streamers. Now, indie filmmakers are attempting to carve out a new path in an evolving landscape, emulating pre-streaming models in some ways.
“We’re going back to a real independent model where people are coming in to finance interesting equity financing structures,” Lisa tells Variety.
