Lisa Callif Honored in the Daily Journal’s Inaugural “Niche Lawyers” Issue
Lisa Callif was recently selected as one of the Daily Journal’s leading “Niche Lawyers” for 2025. The inaugural list highlights California’s top lawyers specializing in obscure or niche practice areas.
In Lisa’s profile, the Daily Journal spotlights her representation of high-profile clients, including her work securing clearances and approvals for the estate of Paul Reubens in Pee-wee as Himself, which premiered on HBO following his death. Lisa is also recognized for her ongoing representation of Mark Wahlberg’s production company, Unrealistic Ideas, which has included projects like Spy High.
Lisa tells the Daily Journal that her work with producer Lisa Remington on Oscar-winning documentary The Only Girl in the Orchestra exemplified how production legal work can aid creative storytelling. “The project, an extremely powerful story to tell, dove into the life of Orin O’Brien,” she explains.
Lisa adds that the landscape of independent film is shifting as major studios scale back on financing independent projects.
“The biggest trend I am seeing is films becoming truly independent again,” she concludes.
