Herlinda Castagnoli Joins the Latina Legal Minds Podcast

Herlinda Castagnoli was recently profiled on the “Latina Legal Minds Podcast”, hosted by Kimberly Lopez, where they conversed about her background, her professional journey leading to her role at DCP, and what it means to be a Latina legal mind.

Herlinda’s passion for the arts and advocacy began in childhood, where she fought to bring the arts to public schools, and continued through her work in public defense as an undergraduate. At USC, she connected with DCP Partner and fellow USC alum, Chris Perez, and began her legal journey through a summer internship at the firm, which later led to an associate position. At DCP, Herlinda is able to further fulfill her passion for the arts and advocacy by supporting independent filmmakers. Herlinda explains, “I think we do so much work with independent filmmakers who have a message, and that is really, really exciting.” She continues to share, “I think independent filmmakers is a really special space to me because of the messaging, and I think we get to deal a lot with the First Amendment, which I really care about, and people being able to speak their truth, but also in a way that feels honest and legally honest.”

Herlinda and Kimberly continue to discuss what it means to be “a Latina Legal Mind,” explaining that it feels like a “personal definition of success” and is generationally important to her and her family, who have supported her immensely throughout her journey. She concludes by telling Kimberly, she hopes to continue to pass this passion along “…to other people and keep building the identity for Latinas in this space because it just is so powerful to see that grow.”
