Chris Perez Speaks on Industry Trends at European Film Market’s 2025 AfroBerlin Conference

Chris Perez recently spoke on three panels at the European Film Market’s 2025 AfroBerlin conference. The three-day event, which took place on February 16-18, celebrated the intersection between film and music in partnership with the African Artists’ Association. The conference hosted key film industry players, providing attendees with engaging panel discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities.

In his first panel, titled “Innovative and Out of the Box Film Financing Methods and Methodologies Using Tech,” moderated by Zubi Mohammed, a writer and producer at Magnussen Media Group in the United States and Nigeria, Chris spoke alongside Steven Adams, the founder of Alta Global Media and co-founder of HollyShorts Film Festival. The group delved into unconventional approaches to film financing to empower emerging filmmakers.

Chris was also slated to speak on the “Negotiating Co-Production Agreements in Differing Legal or Policy Environments” panel moderated by actor, screenwriter, and producer Rodney Charles, with panelists Luiz Toledo, the founder of Filomena Productions in Brazil; Maisha Mosala, production analyst at KwaZulu Natal Tourism Authority in South Africa; and Clarence Rolle, the director of Global Communications and film commissioner at The Bahamas Tourism Authority. The group utilized their vastly diverse experiences to dissect how to navigate co-production agreements across different legal and policy environments.

Lastly, Chris participated in a conversation, also moderated by Rodney Charles, entitled “The AI Frontier and Conundrum: A Candid Look at Copyrights and Legal Minefields: Who Owns What?” where he analyzed the complexities of emerging AI technologies and their impact on copyright law.
