Chris Perez Appears on “The Creative Gap” Podcast to Discuss Entertainment Law
Chris Perez recently appeared as a guest on an episode of Gian Carlo Stigliano’s “The Creative Gap” podcast. In the episode, titled “Chris Perez – Entertainment Law, AI & The Future of Hollywood,” Gian Carlo and Chris discuss the entertainment industry’s ever-evolving trends and best practices.
The episode dives into the importance of a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between filmmakers and lawyers when handling the new wave of emerging AI technology and other legal challenges. Chris tells Gian Carlo that young, first-time filmmakers should not be apprehensive to pursue a relationship with an attorney, whether it involves attending a class, presentation, or panel by an attorney or establishing connections within their cohort or group. “It really is, just like any other relationship, about finding a connection and making sure you’re heading in the right direction and your intentions are the same,” he explains.
Chris also discusses the biggest challenges facing filmmakers in 2024. “The things that are affecting us the most right now are AI, a changing distribution landscape, we’re not in a great economy right now, particularly in Hollywood, there’s been a lot of consolidation,” Chris says of emerging trends in the entertainment industry. “What I’m seeing for independent filmmakers is less buyers, less companies willing to take a risk on risky projects. […] They’re betting on safe bets,” he continues.
