Bridging the Gender Pay Gap: Lisa Callif Speaks with Variety Magazine
The California Fair Pay Act, effective January 1, 2016, will enable women to earn comparable pay to men for doing “substantially similar” work. The Act lists exceptions that permit pay disparity, but people in entertainment are wondering how it will affect Hollywood. In the article, “Will California’s Fair Pay Act Make the Difference for Women in Hollywood?,” Variety magazine asks Partner Lisa Callif for her thoughts on the new legislation.
“At first blush I am happy that this type of legislation is happening and the discussion is happening. She also expressed her concern for applying the legislation in an industry where there are “so many varying, often subjective factors that go into determining compensation.”
